Team Information
Project Manager I was born and raised in Nanakuli Oahu, and I am a proud graduate of Nanakuli High school class of 2011. Following graduating from high school I went on to receiving his Associates in arts & natural science in Pre-Engineering from Kapiolani Community College. Currently I am a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, I hope to obtain a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering to go on and work in the aerospace or
Systems Integrator My name is Richard Chun. I am from Hilo, Hawaii and graduated from Waiakea High School in 2012. I am currently in my fifth year as a Mechanical Engineering student and I am also pursuing a minor in Physics, which I am one class away from doing so. I decided to go into engineering because I enjoyed math and science and was fairly good at it. Also, my grandfather wanted to become an engineer, but he unfortunately could not afford to go to college.

My name is Aaron Lam. I grew up in Mililani, Hawaii and graduated from Hanalani Schools in 2013. I have always enjoyed math and science and had an interest in cars. I am currently a senior in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, planning to graduate in Spring 2017. I hope to find an engineering job and stay in Hawaii.
I grew in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from University Laboratory School in 2013, and am currently a senior undergraduate student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I chose to pursue mechanical engineering because it uses math and science to improve society.
Jonathan Chiu is a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. This will be his fourth and final year as an undergraduate. He is currently the drive train subsystem lead of the University of Hawaii Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Competition team, “Ke Koa Ekolu O Ke Alahele”, which translates into “The Third Warriors of the Road.” Part of the Mechanical Engineering Curriculum is for senior students to enroll and participate in a Senior Design Course that serves a
My role in this team is to assist in the research and manufacturing process for the drivetrain, which is responsible for the propulsion of the vehicle. One of the focuses in designing a human powered vehicle is to increase the efficiency of the drive system, therefore increasing the power produced by the rider to the wheel in order to increase the vehicle’s velocity and acceleration. The research involved in this will include proper gearing, selection of a low maintenance hub, crank arm size, an
I grew up in Waipahu, Hawaii and graduated from Pearl City High School in 2013. I am now in my fourth year studying mechanical engineering. I became interested in this this major because in high school, I was interested in airplanes and cars. I plan to graduate in Fall 2017 and work for the federal government or continue my education and pursue a master’s degree in environmental engineering.Describe your image.
I grew up in Hilo, HI, and graduated from Hilo High School in 2011. Throughout my years in high school and post graduation, I didn’t have any inclination towards what I wanted to do for a career. Having competed in the sport of wrestling all throughout high school, I had contemplated a career in Physical Therapy. However, I knew that that career path would take me away from Hawai`i, and I knew that I didn’t want to leave this state. I always had an above-average background in mathematics, so I l
My name is Edward Relin. I’m from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and I am a senior Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Some academic achievements that I have accomplished are that I have made the College of Engineering Dean’s List for 5 semesters, and I have been awarded the Society of American Military Engineers Award of Merit as well as the Great Minds in STEM Role Model Award. Additionally, I have gained engineering experience interning with the Hawaii Space Flight Lab
